Chance the Rapper was born in Chicago, and grew up in a middle class family on the South Side. Chance had an interest in music from a young age, and wanted to become a rapper after listening to Through the Wire by Kanye West. He had his first breakthrough album, Acid Rap in 2013, and found mainstream success. Today, he has won 3 Grammys, and is one of the most well recognized rappers in the world.
In the past, Chance has dealt with depression. As a teenager, Chance saw a close friend killed, and he said that caused him to fall into depression and anxiety. He talked about having dark days where he just didn’t want to do anything. However, Chance was able to overcome his depression and anxiety, and get where she is today.
Chance is also a great advocate for mental health. In 2018, he donated 1 million dollars to SocialWorks, a mental health organization in Chicago. He has been a great voice for mental health, and has been an inspiration to many people dealing with depression and other mental health crises.
