Wayne Gretzky

Wayne Gretzky was born in Brantford, Canada, into a middle class family. Growing up, he always wanted to be a hockey player, practicing hours a day. His work payed off when he signed with the Edmonton Oilers. During his NHL career, he recorded nearly 3000 points, holds 61 NHL records, and is known as the greatest of all time.

As a kid, Gretzky dealt with bullying. Kids would pick on Gretzky in school and at the hockey rinks for being small, calling him names and physically attacking him. Gretzky was able to overcome all of this though, and still become a great hockey player.

Gretzky has been outspoken about his experiences, talking about how he dealt with the bullies and overcame his struggles as a kid. He is a great role model and inspiration to kids who are dealing with bullying around the world today.
