Ricky Williams

Ricky Williams was born in San Diego, California, into a working class family. Growing up, Williams was a great athlete, and also a great student. He earned a scholarship to Texas, where he excelled, winning a Heisman Trophy and rushing for nearly 7000 yards. He was a first round pick in the NFL, where he made a Pro Bowl and played 11 seasons.


During his life, Williams has struggled with depression and anxiety. Williams suffers from social anxiety disorder, and so moving through life as a celebrity was very hard for him, causing him to struggle with bouts of depression. Williams was able to overcome all this though, and still have a great career.

Williams has been outspoken about his struggles with anxiety and depression, and has been an advocate for destigmatizing mental health. He is a great role model and inspiration for everybody struggling with their mental health.
