Jesse Tyler Ferguson was born in Missoula, Montana. Growing up, he was interested in drama, and wanted to act on broadway. After some time acting on Broadway, Ferguson had his breakthrough television role as Mitchell in Modern Family, a role which earned him five Emmys. Ferguson has also won Tony awards for his performances in plays like Take Me Out.
Growing up, Ferguson dealt with bullying. Ferguson is gay, and as a kid classmates would tease him, call him names, and make fun of him for being gay. Ferguson overcame the bullying though, and has had a great and successful career.
Ferguson has been open about his struggles. He has talked about the importance of being yourself and stopping bullying, and has also been a role model by playing a gay character on TV. He is an inspiration for everybody dealing with bullying, especially those in the LGBTQ community.
