Jim Carrey was born in a suburb of Toronto, Canada, into a middle class family. Growing up, Carrey didn’t know what he wanted to do, and worked odd jobs. He then started doing comedy, and has his breakthrough in 1994 with Dumb and Dumber. Since then, Carrey has been in movies like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Bruce Almighty, and is one of the most famous actors in the world.
During his life, Carrey has struggled with dyslexia and depression. As a kid, Carrey struggled in school due to his dyslexia, and dropped out of high school. During his acting career, he struggled with bouts of depression, and struggled with the pressure of acting. Carrey overcame all of this though, and still became a great and successful actor.
Carrey has been outspoken about his struggles, talking about the stigma around dyslexia and depression. He is a great inspiration and advocate for everybody who struggles with dyslexia and depression in our world today.
