Salma Hayek was born in Veracruz, Mexico, in an upper-middle class family. She had her first role in Teresa, a successful telenovela. Since then, she has been in movies like Wild Wild West, Grown Ups, and House of Gucci. She is widely considered the most influential Latina actress, and one of the best actresses in Hollywood.
As a child, Hayek struggled with dyslexia. At an early age, she struggled in school, and at 12 was expelled from her Catholic school due to a dyslexia caused mistake. In Hollywood, she would take longer to read scripts. However, she has overcome this struggle, and is still a very successful actress.
Hayek has been a voice for those dealing with dyslexia, speaking openly about her struggles. She is a great inspiration to all those dealing with dyslexia, especially Latina women, who’s dyslexia is often overlooked.
